About Us

Hello,

Thank you for taking your time to get to know us a little better. We are grateful to be considered for the wonderful possibility of adoption. Please know of our love and gratitude to you as you make a selfless decision.

Some of our grounding thoughts are:
  1. We are committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to each other. We are not perfect, nor do we claim to be.
  2. We know that every person has a story and we value the paths others have walked to meet us in our journey.
  3. We know that life doesn't always work out the way we want it to, but there is always hope to find happiness.
  4. Family is important. We are so grateful for the love that we share with our families. We plan to raise our children surrounded by that unconditional love.
  5. We would be honored to welcome you into our family through an open adoption!
A little about us:

We waited for the "right one" to come along and married later in life. Our four years of marriage have been full of family, fun, and service. Through our time together, the two of us have enjoyed creating memories and growing closer together.

Joe is a self-proclaimed "computer nerd." He works as a Linux Specialist for an online shopping company. He graduated from a local university in Computer Science, so he does have his reasons for that self-titled role. Shanna is a 6th grade teacher. This is her 16th year teaching. She graduated from two different universities, one of which included a Masters degree.

Shanna's point of view of "Mr. Amazing" (aka. Joe):

WOW!! I LOVE THIS MAN! "Mr. Amazing" is truly amazing! I don't know how to sum up my feelings for Joe on paper. He is completely committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ, me and our marriage. He honors his priesthood and womanhood. He opens the doors, proving that chivalry is not dead; he tells me that he loves me and that I am the "most beautiful woman in the world". It is fabulous to be reminded of his love throughout the day by texts and emails. Joe makes me laugh! We have fun together making up funny poetry, playing word games (btw, I always win!), and finding out who can say "I love you" in the most creative ways (he usually wins that one, but only because I let him). He gives time and love to others as well. His simple acts of service are innumerable. On early snowy mornings, you can always find him down the street shoveling walks for widows and our elderly neighbors. He has several other "girlfriends", usually grandmothers who love company. Joe is a "tinkerer" and has several projects going on at once. I feel blessed to be loved and cherished by him!

Joe's point of view of "Super Shan":

Shanna is truly awesome! She inspires me, drives me (sometimes literally, especially if I need a car part, but I really meant "motivation"), and is my truest friend. I've become known as "Shanna's Husband" because every where we go, someone knows Shan, and they absolutely love her. She loves people and good friends. As someone that works with the teenage girls in our congregation, she has garnered the trust and respect of some very dear people. She loves kids (well, she IS a teacher) and loves to read. She loves to watch movies and loves to explore new things (to be frank, when she is traveling with me, it's hard to keep up with her). She is a dedicated U2 fun, but enjoys listening to all kinds of music. Quiet drives, getting out doors, camping, and family are all things that she enjoys doing. She doesn't like homework (doing her own, or grading it), but she does it anyway because she's willing to do things that just need to be done. Oh, and in case I didn't mention this earlier, she's beautiful (especially her heart and soul)!

Our families are very important to us. A good game of "Nertz" or "Hand and Foot" will always grab our attention and keep the fun flying with the family. "Aunt and Uncle" is our name and spoiling our nieces and nephews is our game. Watching a small child at the zoo or Disney on Ice makes us happy! We can't wait to do that with our own children. That's not all, though. We love spending time together camping, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, yard work, and just "being". Service is something that we enjoy. We both have responsibilities in our church congregation, and along the way, we have met amazing people who have changed our lives for the better.

We are both returned missionaries for the LDS Church. A day never goes by without being thankful for our service and the lessons learned while serving the Lord. We have strong testimonies of the love of our Savior, scripture, and the blessing of eternal families. Shanna is especially grateful everyday for the opportunity to have served a mission! (We were introduced by one of Shanna's missionary companions...our blind date worked out very well!)

Thank you for reading our letter! May our Heavenly Father pour out His love and peace to you now and always.

Shan and Shan's Husband (that's me) I mean,
Shanna and Joe
